At this point it should be noted that we are preparing welders to work in all sectors although it is significant that some sectors require higher skill levels in welding than others and some work in each sector requires a varying skill level.
The qualification is set out to take this into account and to provide welding trainees, improvers, semi-skilled and craftsmen the opportunity to articulate to the highest level of skill through international welder qualifications and Scottish Vocational Qualifications. This allied to the relevant production qualification will give the trainee the best possible advantage to progress in the workplace.
This phase of the Training can take as little as 14 months to complete for over 20's or the remainder of 4 years for under 20's
